
Atsbi, October 1, 2025 – A groundbreaking ceremony was held today to recognize 38 male trainees who successfully completed the year-long WLiE Project focused on promoting gender equality and women’s leadership. Sponsored by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) in partnership with Care Ethiopia, the initiative aims to empower men to become advocates for women’s rights and leadership within their communities.
During the ceremony organized by the Women’s Association of Tigray, participants expressed their commitment to working tirelessly towards achieving gender equality. They acknowledged that
fostering women’s leadership is not only crucial for societal advancement but also benefits the entire community.
In a special highlight of the event, 10 of the male participants were recognized as champions for their exemplary dedication and commitment to the principles of the WLiE Project. These champions will serve as role models and leaders in the ongoing effort to promote gender equality.
The successful completion of this project marks a significant step in changing cultural norms and attitudes towards gender roles, encouraging collaborative efforts between men and women for a more equitable society.
As the WLiE Project continues its mission, the commitment demonstrated by these participants is expected to inspire further initiatives aimed at empowering women and promoting leadership opportunities across the region.
